Are online cigar humidors a rip-off? Can you recommend any trust worthy sites?
Do you mean cigar e-tailers? Its the only way I buy cigars.
JRCigars.com
CigarsInternational.com
Holts.com
Rockyscigars.com
Famous-Smoke.com
MikesCigars.com

Where should I place the humidification device in my humidor?
Flat on the bottom is ok? Right behind the mouth-end of the cigars?

Ok so 3 more posts today that I’ve dug up – I’m an information JUNKIE on this stuff lately. Give em a browse and let me know what ya reckon. They’re just from a few different sites I’ve been surfing lately that are generally good for information like this…

Acid Kuba Kuba help

Two days ago I picked up an Acid Kuba Kuba, I know that lots of real cigar guys frown on them, but I like the taste of some of them. Well, I bought it and someone told me that before you smoke it, you should put it in a humidor …. If I don't have space for my herf-a-dor when I travel, I just put my cigars in a zip-lock baggie. For the college-student budget, I'd just get a small tupperware container and a humidification pillow, both will only set you back a few bucks. …

This is hands down probably my favorite smoke from CAO, and possibly my favorite smoke of any cigar. To top it off, if you by the box, well this box is special, as it is a travel humidor that uses the Sensi-Box technology. …

Some of you put cigars instantly after buying humidors. This is not good idea. The wood of humidor is still dry and will give you taste of wood when you smoke. Let it's humidity to reached 70 % and then proceed to place cigars. … A traditional humidor can seize to 300 cigarettes. Casual smokers do not use to travel with humidors. They use to keep them in their homes and take out on special events. Some of the smokers use to carry it with them. …

How do I consistently maintain a 68%-72% humidity range with my cigar humidor?

I recently purchased a cigar humidor that holds up to 75-100 cigars. I have read all kinds of ways on how I should properly season the humidor. At first, I used my activator solution on my humidifier and placed that in the humidor. Then, I simply put a shot glass with distilled water in it and let it sit for almost a week. The reading on my hygrometer has not reached above 65%. Then, I decided to put another shot glass in it, along with a sponge. I also wiped down all the sides and the wood tray with the sponge to let the water soak into the spanish cedar. This has helped the most because the humidity has reached 70% humidity however continues to fall back down within 6 hours. I have not put my cigars in yet because I was expecting the humidity to stay consistent around 70% humidity (at least a month). I just changed locations and put my humidor into another room in my house to see if the humidity level was just bad in my room. The humidity in my humidor has been consistently in the 60%-65% humidity range. However, I would like it higher. What do you recommend I do to have my humidity level in my humidor reach a consistent level of 70% humidity?

I already know that Humidors are usually constructed with a Spanish Ceder veneer on the inside or Mahogany veneer.

I am planning on building one just big enough for 20-30 cigars. I will be constructing it with the aid of my Uncle who has been doing this sort of thing for 40+ years, I myself have been doing some cabinetry and other constructed for at least 5 years.

Can I just build the whole thing out of Ceder? I don't think Spanish ceder will be available to me at the local home depot.
What is this going to cost me for materials?

So I got a bunch of cigars for my birthday about 4 weeks ago, and I didn't have a humidor or the little humidor packs, so I just had them in their little zipped up bags in a sock drawer. But I just got a humidor and put my cigars in there last night, and I was wondering how long they would need to sit in there before they were re-hydrated and good to smoke.

Help?

How about these right… I think you’ll find the following nuggets of wisdom particularly insightful. Leave your comments below. Check out the second one in particular…

Xikar Travel Humidor

Overall this Xikar travel humidor is worth the price. No longer will I risk putting a handful of cigars in a plastic bag, or being limited to only a three or five finger case. If you travel a lot or maybe just enjoy herfing now and then …

Additionally, the combo kit comes with a 10 cigar travel humidor lined in Spanish cedar and has a magnetic lid closure, a Lotus Vertigo Jazz single flame torch lighter, a double blade guillotine cutter and a crystal gel humidifier. …
